Happy Halloween

Ok, it was a busy couple of days and *very* few pictures.  Trick or treat day in our neighborhood was a day early this year (oddly, the weekend where Halloween actually fell was deemed as being "too busy" so we did it on a school night - isn't that the opposite of how Halloween is usually moved??).  Fake Halloween night was also golf lesson night so we were only able to join at the tail end.  We learned that tricking and treating at the end when all the kids have had their fill and most houses are out of candy isn't the best time!  Lesson learned on trying to fit too much into one day (although I don't think the kids would have supported skipping tricking and treating despite the not-so-stellar results).

On actual Halloween Day, our school had a wonderful fall festival.  The kids do a costume parade and each class has a booth set up with old-fashioned games and lots of candy.  The high school kids do a really scary haunted house.  Well, we hear it is quite scary as none of our girls have mustered up the courage to try it yet!

So enjoy my very few photos as well as the most low maintenance costumes we could do this year!

Since a lot of cultures don't celebrate Halloween,
our neighborhood rule is that if you want kids to
ring your doorbell, you decorate your gate.  So
despite this giant, sparkly pumpkin having legs,
we did hang it on the gate to let the kids
know there was candy to be had in Villa B-03!

Exhibit A of "2013 Low Effort Costumes" Regan and Yu kyung are
twins (because they do look *so* alike, don't you think??), Jane is
a scary black cat (either Regan or Yu kyung did her makeup as I
am not claiming credit for her scary face!) and Meredith is Toy Story Jessie (happily recycled costume on 3rd run or so)

Bunny Anna (again, someone else did her make-
up, I just provided the ride to school!)

Anna in the parade

She was very focused on getting to her spot
to get out of the limelight asap!  She also
refused to wear the cute pink bow tie that
came with the costume because it was too itchy

Meredith is terrified of Sandy the Sand Viper
(school mascot out of the photo off to the right) and her
sweet teacher is shielding her from the dangerous
giant green snake that looks like a dinosaur

Jane in the parade (Regan never looked my way so I didn't get a
photo of her and her twin during the parade) - you can see Sandy
the Sand Viper in this photo in the rear right of the photo

by crafts from each elementary classroom

brightly colored (all-natural, I'm sure….) snow cones (you can see
an example of the Halloween crafts behind)
