We hit our beach club for some swimming, sand-castle building and ocean swimming. The weather is amazing so an outdoor dinner overlooking the pool and seeing the sunset isn't a bad evening!
We stayed home and played games (I'm a game fan so I'm always up for a card game or a board game). We had an uber-competitive game of Monopoly that took three rounds over two days. Meredith proved to be the monopolist with the most-est as she took us all out one by one.
Our family has also recently discovered Minecraft (kind of an online lego building game) that a good portion of the kids they girls know both in the US and here are addicted to. The girls had never shown much of an interest until recently so they loved a bit of downtime this week to explore a new game. I've gotten lots of "tours" of the houses, farms, etc. that they have designed.
Generally, we just enjoyed some fun times in the down time. Enjoying a new playground when I took all the girls to the grocery store, evening bicycle rides (especially as we celebrate Meredith and no more training wheels).
There is also a relatively new public beach in Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island. Unlike most beaches in Abu Dhabi, it is in open water and so gets real waves (most of the other beaches are in more cove-like protected water). The waves weren't so big the day we went but large enough that the girls loved splashing in them. We also built some ambitious sand castles.

| Not sure if this is a fort or a nest but Anna and Jake worked long and hard on it. They "donated" it to another dad and three girls when we left and they were delighted to keep adding to it and turned it into a four-turreted castle |
