Girls missing Jake in Abu Dhabi

So Jake left for Abu Dhabi three days ago. He's there, recovering from jet lag and getting started at his new job there. He'll come back in about a month for 2-3 weeks and then go back and then we'll all fly over together in August. We've done two skype calls with him so the girls have been able to see him and talk to him. In any case, after we read books and said prayers tonight, Meredith asked if we could talk about Daddy and what we're thankful for him about. Here is what they said:

Meredith (3): I pray that Daddy isn't lonely in Abu Dhabi
Jane (5): I'm thankful that we can see Daddy and talk to him on the computer
Regan (7): I'm thankful that Daddy made it safely to Abu Dhabi

It was a very special moment to see how they are growing and able to articulate so many things.

On a related note, after we told the girls we were moving to Abu Dhabi, every few days when Meredith woke up, she would ask in her adorable sing-song three-year old voice, "Is today the day that we move to Abu Dhabi?" So cute. It finally sunk into her that we're not going until after we visit my parents. And so now, every few mornings she'll wake up and say, "Is today the day we go to Arkansas to visit Gammy and Poppy?" Gotta love a three-year old's sense of time.

Meredith, you are so right. All these moments that we're convinced we'll remember forever become a big blur...
