Bill Spoon's without Jake

On our way out of town, it was lunchtime but I wanted to eat out so we didn't dirty our kitchen before we left (house on the market and all). There was a *chorus* from the back seat when we were talking about where to eat lunch. "WE WANT BILL SPOON'S! WE WANT BILL SPOON'S!" Jake would be so proud that he's gotten his girls to be quite the connoisseurs of Eastern Carolina BBQ. (By the way, Bill Spoon's BBQ is so old school that they don't even have a website that I can link here). We were fortunate enough to meet Bill when we moved to Charlotte. He has since died but his son, Steve, now runs it and always has cookies for the kids. Steve and his wife Ashley are expecting their first baby (a boy) next month.

Here are the girls enjoying BBQ without their dad (they ate all of their BBQ and 1/2 of mine). Regan was so sweet that she didn't want me to take this picture to send to Jake (you can see her in the picture saying, "No-ooooo." She knows that he loves Bill Spoon's and thought he would be sad if he knew we went without him and she didn't want him to be sad.
