Our first school yearbook from the American Community School of Abu Dhabi
As usual the days can be slow but the year flies by. I am now mom to a rising 3rd grader and 1st grader (and a third child who will join her big sisters at elementary next year in KG1 (aka Pre-K)! The end of the school year has been a blur with musical presentations, an open house at the school to see what the kids have been learning in their classrooms as well as in Arabic, computer, music and art classes and an art show complete with a small orchestra that provided mood music as we gazed at all the great elementary art.
Regan and Jane's last music classes put on little performances for the parents and if you know Jane, you know it was a very big deal that she got up in front of all the parents and her class and spoke two lines. Yay, Jane - we're so proud of you! And Regan spoke several lines in her show *and* sang a small solo (just a couple of lines). They did so great.
We also go our yearbook from the school and I must say that getting an Abu Dhabi school yearbook with two of my kids' pictures in it is one of those "ahhh, this is why we are here" moments as an ex-pat. It's quite heavy but I think I'll lug it to the U.S. this summer to share as well.
Regan with her best friend - they became fast friends the very first day of school which really helped Regan settle well into a new school
Regan at her end of year musical performance
Regan performing with her friend, Elizabeth.
Jane with Mrs. Nabti - her kindergarten teacher. We will miss having Mrs. Nabti as a teacher and hope Meredith gets her in two years!
Regan with her 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Stain (right) and Asst. Teacher, Mrs. Jib (left). Mrs. Jib won't be at ACS next year so Regan shed a few teachers saying good-bye to her
Jane at her musical performance
Here are a few videos from the musical performance (probably only grandparents will want to watch these!).
Jane's class singing the Jelly Bean song (it's quite catchy and we sing it around our house all the time)
Here is Jane speaking her lines - two of her closest friend (Ameera and Zahra) are with her.
Here is Regan singing (a little hard to hear)
