We planned to go to the Atlantis and take advantage of their summer offers and heat-beating water park in May. But I messed up the reservations so a June trip instead!
The water park was a lot of fun - Meredith has *really* turned the corner on her comfort level in the water and pretty much kept up with the big kids on everything. We spent most of the day doing alternating loops of the lazy river and the rapid river. I was amazed that Meredith felt okay going down the rapids (there were little inner tube escalators that got us to the top of the rapids). The rapids were quite rapid - lots of waves, bumping and splashing - nothing I thought Meredith could have handled a couple of months ago. Regan and Jane loved them - Regan got tipped out of her inner tube once and even though Anna was in my lap, I managed to hook her with my feet. She would have been fine otherwise but it might have spooked her a bit (and gotten some water up her nose). We did the rapids over and over and over. Anna even went down a few.
Jake did the Leap of Faith vertical slide (no picture - sorry!). He tried to talk me into doing it but I managed to get out of it since the girls were ready to do the rapids again (whew...).
The Atlantis also has an aquarium and a giant aquarium wall we walked past to and from our room (the girls called it the Fish Wall). As a part of our summer deal, we got a sizable credit at a pretty nice restaurant. Now having four kids aged 2-8 doesn't exactly lend itself to having a great nice restaurant experience but our meal at the French restaurant Rostang was wonderful. The very attentive staff took good care of us and talked to the kids, too. We were there for almost two hours and not one melt-down. THAT is a successful meal (and our food was really quite good, too). Thumbs up all around for a fun weekend. But in terms of water park/ weekend experiences, we still prefer the Mina al Salam hotel with a trip to Wild Wadi waterpark (our September '10 weekend).
