Meredith was very much on the fence for a while about having a birthday party since her birthday falls so early in the school year. She was still getting settled with her friend group. But as it got closer, she indeed decided she was up for it and wanted to do a laser tag party. We couldn't find a laser tag place like the one the girls love in Abu Dhabi, but we found something even better - a laser tag place that comes to us!
Laser tag sounds all fun and "gamey," but there were serious looking weapons. Jake and I worried we were corrupting all these sweep girls and going to make the neighborhood nervous after they saw girls with guns swarming our yard. But all went well and lots of fun was had by Meredith, our sweet birthday girl.
Welcome to 11, Meredith!
| A little soccer playing in the back yard waiting for all the friends to arrive |
| The sad, dead spot where we had to take a tree down... |
| Almost time for laser tag. Little pop up "bunkers" all over our yard |
| A little dinner and pizza before the action starts |
| Time to "weapon up." One of the friends got bonked on the head with a soccer ball (hence the towel and ice pack on her head!) |
| Jane trying it out |
| The fierce armed posse |
| Happy birthday - 2nd amendment style! |
| Rehashing the tactics before going out for the "dark" round |
| Camryn stayed the night and the girls almost burned the house down by putting a sock on the highlight. Guns and fires - just another day at the Puryear house! |
A few pictures from when we celebrated as a family on her actual birthday:
| A Jake special - ice cream pie (but made by me) - that's supposed to be a beautiful monogrammed "M" adorning the pie... |
| Her new bicycle is a bit bigger than she is used to - a little tumble at first |
| Now she's getting the hang of it! |
