A bit of research turned up the Virginia mountains or the Maryland shore if we wanted a non-city getaway and wanted to stay within two hours or so. Overall a pretty relaxing weekend - a bit of swimming & relaxing at the hotel and excursions to the Harriet Tubman museum and the Blackwater Wildlife Preserve.
Overall a fun and relaxing weekend with a bit of history and nature thrown in for good measure.
It's October - but still warm enough (barely) to jump into the pool
Hot tub feels better! Chesapeake Bay behind for a lovely view
Time for s'mores!
Sisters!
Our walk along the Bay to dinner one night
Too late and too tired to walk back so we took a golf cart back instead
At the Harriet Tubman museum. Great little museum and their kids' activity book was very well done. Meredith and Anna buckled down to complete it to earn their badges (Jane & Regan helped Anna)
Anna and Meredith getting their badge for completing the kids' challenge
At the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge.
Slow, relaxing drive through a beautiful refuge. We saw lots of birds & turtles
Sitting in the sun roof to enjoy the view in one of the many turn-out spots
Bald eagle!
A family pool game. We learned that we are all really bad at pool. But not as bad as we are at badminton!
Putt-putt time (we're a little better at this leisure sport!)
Crazy, tall narrow bridge we had to cross over the Bay.
