Thrilled little Jane lost her first top tooth yesterday (3rd tooth in total). It had been dangling for many days but she was really hoping that it wouldn't fall out until Jake got home (on Saturday). But not to be - on her walk from her classroom to the nurse to get a cold pack as it was sore, it fell out and was not to be found in the grass. She cheerfully showed everyone her new gap and her teacher thoughtfully helped her find a small rock about the size of a tooth that she could use as a "substitute" tooth for the tooth fairy. We wrote a quick note to the tooth fairy letting her know that the real tooth was lost but hopefully the substitute tooth would suffice.
Well, not totally sure what happened to the tooth fairy but *I* woke up to my alarm this morning in a bit of a worrisome state. I dashed in hoping to get there before our little toothless one woke up, but sadly, not quick enough as I found a tearful Jane sadly looking at the note and substitute tooth still under her pillow. Yikes - how could the tooth fairy let us down like this??? I know it's the end of the school year and things are busy, but really???
So I suggested that we look further around her bed to see if there was anything we could find. Strangely under the tissue box at the corner of her bed, we found ten dirhams. Although we're not quite sure why the tooth fairy didn't take the note and substitute tooth, our best guess is that she only collects real teeth and didn't really need the substitute rock....
Whew....
