Here is our summer 2012 schedule! I'm sure some of the details will change but the basics are pretty much done!
The United Kingdom! June 21-28 with Carl and Lynne
We're in the UK with Carl and Lynne from June 21-28. We'll be in the beautiful English countryside in the Cotswolds from June 21-24 and then in London (Notting Hill) from June 24-28. The girls and I head back to the U.S. and Jake goes back to Abu Dhabi to earn a paycheck to support our large and travel-happy family (thanks, Jake!).
June 28-July 3: Morrilton/ Petit Jean State Park (Arkansas) with my side of the family (unpacking the room full of boxes of my annual shopping, petting zoo and Mather Lodge on Petit Jean Mountain). Also, Jane *must* get in some fishing with Poppy.
July 4-6: Amazingly beautiful Cave Creek - historic family home (and wedding site!) of my sister-in-law (Vanessa) and brother. A few days of canoeing, splashing in the creek, 4-wheeling, fireworks, good meals and most importantly, excellent company!
July 6-7: West Plains, Missouri to see my great-aunt and uncle and cousin Robin
July 7: Kamp Kanakuk! Drop Jane and Regan off at wonderful Kamp Kanakuk for a fun, active week in the Ozark mountains and lakes near Branson, Missouri. Regan's 2nd trip, Jane's first - a week away from us on their own!
July 9-11: Branson. Meet my dear friend Nibal and her little sweetheart, Leila (Meredith's age), in Branson for a couple of days of good girl friend catch up days. Meredith and maybe Anna will come with me.
July 11-14: More company in Branson. Mom and Dad join us for a little Branson fun. We'll head to the truly charming amusement park of Silver Dollar City so that Meredith can get her adrenaline/ roller coast fix in (she's my only roller coaster lover). We'll also spend a day relaxing at Big Cedar Resort - rustic but beautiful resort in the Ozarks
July 14 - pick up my girls after a week apart!
July 14-16: Fayetteville, Arkansas where we descend like a tornado into my bachelor brother's peaceful existence. Extended family gatherings, old college friend gathering. Maybe some golf?
July 16-18: Morrilton and pack up!
July 19: Head to Nashville to hopefully see Cousin Alexa if her rigorous nursing school schedule allows!
July 20: Off to Asheville for an evening with nephews, Zach and Alex, and my brother and sister-in-laws, Dan and Susan
July 21-25: Quick trip to Charlotte this summer to see friends and hit our old doctor for check-ups. Many thanks to Kimber and Scott who are letting us have their house while they are at the beach!
July 26-August 5th: San Francisco! Jake flies there and meets us for the whole time. We *may* be staying at friends' houses depending on their travel schedules. If not, "look for house on vrbo" is still on my to-do list!
August 5-8: Back to Asheville, NC to spend time with Dan, Susan, Zach and Alex in this wonderful, small city in the mountains and on the Appalachian Trail that occasionally lures Jake and me to put it on a list of places we would "consider" next!
August 8-13: High Hampton! We'll take our nephews with us and head to our favorite vacation spot of High Hampton Inn in cool and beautiful Cashiers, NC. Carl and Lynne, Grandma Estelle and my parents will meet us there as well and Dan and Susan will join us for at least the weekend - and maybe more. Also, my brother may join us as well! We'll hike, play golf, canoe, play in lakes and creeks, bbq, roast marshmallows, feed the donkeys, pick wildflower and just generally enjoy the cooler temperatures and the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains
August 13: Head to Nashville to see Jake's extended family
August 14: Fly out of Nashville and connect in Chicago for our regular Etihad flight directly back to Abu Dhabi. We keep hoping that since Jake is super platinum that some day, we'll get an upgrade...
August 15: Arrive back in Abu Dhabi to try to get over the jet lag, bear the oppressive heat and have a little fun before school starts back up on August 21st.
