First days of school - 3 of them!

Just as we get almost over the jet lag, we are quite forced into getting over it as it is time to go back to school which, of course, means our sleeping in days are over.  After a long, busy summer, I think we were all ready to back in a routine.

Even though Regan, Jane and Meredith were all going to be at the same school as last  year (and the past two years for Regan and Jane), they still all had the first day jitters.  Regan and Jane started first on a Sunday.  Regan and Jane both had some good friends from last year in their classes but some other good friends were scattered to other classes.  So mixed feelings about all that.  In general the girls are doing great in their new classes.

Meredith had a one-on-one meet the teacher meeting on the Sunday the big girls started but didn't start school until Tuesday.  Anna's school didn't start until the middle of the following week.  It was actually quite nice having all my girls trickle into school.  Anna went to a summer camp one morning and I was able to spend the morning with Meredith which was so nice.  She's my brave movie goer so we went to see the new Disney movie Brave (Regan and Jane had *no* interest in seeing that whatsoever!).  It was even a little scary for Meredith but she made it through the scary bear scene.

Meredith was a little reticent to leave my side on her first day but her teacher Ms. Chang had it very organized and it helped that Meredith was learning a new routine for how to do things when she gets to school.  Her good friend Alicia is in her class (they've been together since we arrived since they went to nursery together, too).  She also had several more familiar faces which helped.  She still misses her KG1 (pre-K) teacher from last year but we still pop our heads in occasionally to say hello.

Anna sauntered into her nursery like she owns the place.  Her teacher asked her if she wanted to say good-bye to her mom but she just shook her head and was off to explore her new room.  She proudly gave me a tour when I picked her up.  She clearly already had the lay of the land figured out.

First day of 4th and 2nd grades.  Yes, it is about 800 degrees on
but Regan has on a sweater.  We've clearly adapted to the weather!

Under the ACS sign by the elementary gate

Meredith's first day a few days later.  She's excited that she
has a pencil box all her own.

Meredith's first day to wear a P.E. uniform.  She
was thrilled to join her sisters in wearing
this every third day.

Anna's first day.  She's excited to have Meredith's previous
Dragonfly teacher - Ms. Rafia!

Regan cooking pancakes 100% on her own!  They were great (Jane
didn't like them as Regan forgot the eggs but the rest of us
gobbled them up)

Saucy Anna on her way to the pool.  Mondays are
swimming lesson day at our pool.  Lessons haven't
started yet but we're keeping the tradition until they do.
