We continued to have fun during our couple of weeks after school and before our travels began. We hit the science museum in Dubai and well as a science-y play place in Dubai. Jane discovered her favorite restaurant *ever* (Texas Roadhouse) and can't wait to go back.
We were invited to an Iftar (breaking of the fast during Ramadan) since we were here for a bit of Ramadan this year and we visited the Falcon Hospital here in Abu Dhabi and learned a lot about falcons.
The last few days were spent packing and planning our travels. The only little wrench in the process was the Meredith's ankle kept bothering her after she twisted it. I had to take Jane to the doctor for something unrelated and asked the doctor to take a look at Meredith's swollen ankle while we where there. He was very concerned about us walking all over Paris on a potentially fractured ankle. After an inconclusive x-ray a the pediatrician's office, he sent us to the ER for another one. Fortunately the ankle was fine but I think we might have picked up something a little extra during our time at the ER (more on that in later summer post....).
First set of photos: Dubai Children's City Science Museum. We were a little disappointed by our visit this year. We went a few years ago and were very impressed but it seems they don't maintain a lot of the exhibits very well so many of favorite exhibits from three years ago no longer worked.
Second set of photos: Little Explorers play place based on the Paris Science Museum Le Cite des Enfants. It's small but a lot of fun. I can't believe I didn't get a picture of Jane at the Texas Roadhouse. She thinks it is the most amazing restaurant ever. They have peanut shells on the floor and I asked the kids to do something like put napkins in their laps. They asked why and when I said it was what civilized people did, Jane quipped, "Well, we are in the Texas Roadhouse and people from Texas aren't exactly civilized, Mom!" Sorry, Texans - not sure where Jane learned that!
Fun at home: Teaching Regan useful life skill of tying a cherry stem into a knot with her tongue. She could definitely beat me in terms of the time it took.

So Regan had our family do a little team building competition. Jake and Anna were on a team and Meredith and I were on a team. Our goal was to build as tall a structure as possible with only spaghetti, one marshmallow, tape and string. Jake and Anna won!

| Time to break our fast. We had amazing spread of food - I was too busy eating it all to take any pictures of it. |
 |
| Sweet Meredith was so-ooo sleepy after the late night iftar meal (we can't eat until after sundown so it ends up being a late night) |
Falcon Hospital visit. This is like a vet for falcons. They do well-visits and take care of them when injured or sick. It was fascinating how they do feather grafts if a falcon injures a feather. They can graft a feather on and make it match perfectly so you can't even tell.
 |
| At the falcon's hospital. They gave this one general anesthesia and then did some work on his claws. |

| Meredith and Ameera learning how they graft feathers - very interesting |

| Time to say goodbye to Regan's good church and book club friend, Mackenzie. Her family is moving back to Canada after more than 10 years here. They will be missed! |

| At the ER getting ready for ankle x-ray. All was fine and ER trip was our first and pretty uneventful. |
