The school always has a wonderful celebration - all the kids dress in UAE colors and they have impressive assemblies celebrating Emirati culture and the Arabic language. On the field the school has more hands-on exhibitions of traditional dancers and crafts in a traditional tent. The cafeteria serves a special Arabic menu.
Then the best part for kids - no school for two days to celebrate. People decorate their cars, the synchronized fast jets perform an impressive air show and fireworks explode in colors - especially the red and green of the UAE flag.
This year we spent the day at the beach with friends and watched the top of the fireworks from our villa (the new villas across the street block 1/2 our view!). I took zero pictures of the traditional UAE celebrations so look at previous years' posts for those! It was a nice, quiet day for us with friends.
Happy, happy birthday, UAE!
