I had heard about UAE fog before we even moved here. In researching this place, I found news about a 154 car (or some similar high number) pile-up on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway due to fog. Given that San Francisco is also known for its fog, I thought I "knew" fog. But, wow, is this fog thick. Visibility is severely hampered.
On the day pictured below, you couldn't even see the stoplights until you were right on top of them. I knew where they all were since I've done the drive to/ from school hundreds of times by now but I did worry about someone being behind me who didn't know where they were. Fortunately we've made it just fine on our foggy mornings. But if you come to visit and want to go to Dubai, I would recommend holding off on the highway drive until the fog lifted.
