Jake has embarked on a new adventure for our family - a vegetable garden! I was a bit reluctant to start this endeavor but Jake jumped right in and built us a little container place (we gave away a bunch of our rose bushes to make room since we only have one sunny spot in our yard due to all the huge trees). It felt a little like the proverbial conversations about getting a pet ("We'll feed it, take it for walks and you won't have to do much!") but Jake was pretty honest in letting me know he expected me to actually help out with this thing - despite my reservations. Jake and the girls planted tomatoes, strawberries, carrots, green beans and broccoli here and some watermelon in another part of the yard. Stay tuned to see if we get anything edible.... Jake left for China today for 10 days and it's up to me to water this while he's gone.
I'm just hoping for rain....

laura-- it's been a while since we've talked, but wanted to see how you're doing and how that garden's doing!
