We've traveled quite a bit since beginning our adventure in 2010. And for the most part the girls just go along with the family on vacations - where we tell them. No complaining but not a lot of excitement about our specific destination usually (except for our annual trips back to the US and maybe out boat charter along the coast of Turkey last summer with friends). But as we get ready for a week long trip to Egypt, these girls are capital E - Excited! In preparation, totally on their own they pulled together an amazing presentation for us to help get us all ready for the trip.
Anna led us in a choreographed rendition of "Pharoah, Pharoah" - you know, "ooh, baby, let my people go! Uh! Yeah, yeah, yeah!" Meredith taught us all about the pyramids and the mummification process (she is our future doctor so she claims the whole take-the-brain-out-of-the-nose thing doesn't bother her!). Jane taught us all about the animals of Egypt and as a product of the good 'ol American style of hands-on problem solving education, she even made a custom game of "Memory" with all the animals that we all played to help reinforce what she was teaching us.
Regan let us know about the ancient history including all the gods, hieroglyphics, life in Egypt in terms of dress, make up, etc. as well as foods. Regan made it hands-on as well as we all had to write our names or a message in hieroglyphics as well as try to match the god names to what they were god (or goddess of). I only got one (out of probably 15 or 20!) so clearly I've got a ways to go in knowing *anything* about ancient Egyptian gods!
It's so fun seeing them so excited about our trip. Now if things just stay calm there between now and our trip!

| We are playing the Memory game she made so that we can learn more about them (and she was right - I now remember what an Ibis is and looks like much better than if I just saw the photo on the presentation!). |

| Our little Egyptologists! Too bad I didn't get a photo of Anna dancing to "Pharaoh, Pharaoh"! |
