As Regan rushes into her first year that is larger than the number of fingers she has, this year was a quieter birthday celebration. She didn't want to have a party because she said she would just be too sad that Yu kyung couldn't be there (see earlier post on her best friend moving away). She really just wanted us to buy Yu kyung a plane ticket to visit for the weekend but I have a feeling her parents aren't ready for her to fly around the world on her own just yet!
Our main celebration was to go see the big musical extravaganza of Peter Pan: The Neverending Story which we drove up to Dubai to see the weekend before her birthday. It was a musical with a bit of Cirque de Soleil thrown in - very entertaining for all of us. Per Regan's request, we went for Mexican food afterwards.
On her actual birthday, one of her good friends and her mom took Regan out for a treat and gave her a nice gift to pamper her a bit. That night we had her favorite meal (chili!) and cupcakes for a small family celebration. One of our quieter celebrations but no less special to welcome our oldest into a new year!

| Waiting for the Peter Pan show to start. It was a fun show for all of us. |
| These little hills outside the theater were a *huge* hit - lots of running up and down. |
| It's not that high but you can tell Regan is a wee bit nervous as it was a steep thing they climbed |
| These light tubes at the mall were a huge hit. They made noises and the light changes as you hit them. |

| Happy birthday, d-e-a-r Regan! |
| This kid is happiest with sugar very nearby! |
| Jane's gift was a basil plant. It's not real but she wanted to brighten up Regan's room |
