Galloping horses, guinea pigs, golf and lots of growing girls

After the winter break, we've gotten back into school, school activities and lots of winter fun.  Our pool was under repair and now it's open again but the heater isn't working so we're not swimming much these days.  But we are having plenty of other fun.

Ameera and Jane dancing at beach BBQ

Ameera and our big girls dancing

They were all in the kids' dance party - no official winners here
but they all looked great and had a ton of fun.

Amazing cake that friend Marjorie made for a baby
shower that she and I hosted (with another friend Amy)
for our friend Nicole who just had her fourth (but first
baby girl) - we had an all pink celebration for her

Nicole (now the proud mom of her three older boys plus
recently arrived Baby Chloe!) with Marjorie who
just whipped up that beautiful cake

3-D film about sailing at the Volvo Ocean Race
festival here in town (they brought all the big sailboats
to Abu Dhabi on a container for a short leg of the race as
it was too unsafe for them to sail here (too many pirates
near Somalia)

Water balls at the sailing festival

Ameera's first time in the water balls - we think she liked it!

Getting ready for the big explosion!

It worked!  Soda everywhere!

Regan and Anna on a bike ride

Anna clearly likes riding her bike!

game of tag

participants!)

This one is some Saudi prince competing

Anna and I have started doing a little toddler pony club with a local mom's group.
This was her first time and she was a little unsure of it all (she loved riding the
horses and donkeys at Petra - but I was on with her).  She was a little
more relaxed her 2nd time around

I found a little dwarf when I picked Anna up from school
the other day.

The girls are all in heaven when we get Meredith's class guinea pigs
for the weekend.  Carrottop and Checkers get worn out during their
stay at Casa Puryear - they do not get a break!

Getting a ride!

Tiger Woods!  We went to the HSBC Abu Dhabi
Classic golf tournament.  The girls weren't up for a lot
of wondering around the course but we were able to see
Tiger warm up on the driving range and the putting green.

At the golf tournament

Seeing the chairs lined up where parents will spend the whole night waiting
to turn in an application at our school definitely makes me appreciate our
slots here more.  The 7 or so people in this picture were the first in line and
spent almost 24 hours in line.  Meredith and I took them popcorn and drinks..
I'm not sure how many people ended up in line but probably hundreds...

Our family's FIRST 1000 piece puzzle.  It took us a couple of weeks (with
a LOT of parental help) but we did it!  Thanks, Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Bob!

Regan's art was selected for the main display in the elementary atrium.
Yay, Regan!

Anna's school had a winter snow party for all these kids
who rarely get to see snow.  This snow was made of bubbles
and was very realistic.  They had another snow maker
that blew snow confetti and they all made snow angels.

Regan (#1) on her soccer team.  There are some girls on her team that
are really good.  Regan tries hard and handles being the youngest, littlest
and least experienced one on the team very well.  Jane also plays (not sure
how I don't have a photo!).  She does great and scored 3 goals in their 2nd game!

All dressed up for International Day at school.

Traditional Emirati dancers at the ACS International Day celebration.  This was
an amazing event (the elementary kids weren't included last year so this was
our first one).  All the countries represented at our school set up a tent and
had maps, things from their country and (most importantly) food!  I was
stuffed from all the yummy food and loved how the kids got exposed to so
many places and new things (Regan ran up to me and told me that I just *had*
to try the Iraqi food because it was so delicious).  The kids had pretend passports
and they had to get them stamped from six different countries.  What a great event!
